Black Friday Wall Art Guide: How to Shop the Sale and Style Your Space

Black Friday Wall Art Guide: How to Shop the Sale and Style Your Space

Black Friday is one of the best times to buy art, but a big sale can also make choosing harder.

This guide explains how the Urban Road Black Friday sale works, then walks through practical tips for choosing, sizing, styling and hanging your wall art, so you can shop with confidence before the sale ends on 3 December 2026.

Black Friday 2026 at a Glance

The Urban Road Black Friday sale runs from 12 October to 3 December 2026. Prices are reduced on site, so there is no discount code to enter. Spend $350 or more to unlock free gifts, which Tip 1 explains below.

The offer is for Australian retail customers. Gift vouchers and pre-order products are excluded.

Tip 1: Plan Your Order Around the Free Gift Tiers

The more you spend, the more you receive, and the gifts stack. At each spend level you receive every gift unlocked below it.

  • Spend $350 to $499.99: 1 free Limited Edition Scarf, chosen from three designs.
  • Spend $500 to $799.99: the scarf, plus 1 free Mini Art Canvas.
  • Spend $800 or more: the scarf, the mini canvas, plus your choice of 1 free Kids Sleeping Bag or 1 free Bean Bag Lounger.

Your qualifying spend is calculated on the product subtotal before discounts and does not include shipping. If you are close to a threshold, adding a cushion or a second artwork can move you into the next tier. Gifts are available while stocks last, each customer can redeem one gift stack, and if an order is returned and no longer meets the spend threshold, the matching gifts need to be returned too. Read the full terms and conditions for details.

Tip 2: Start With the Room, Not the Artwork

Before browsing, decide where the art is going and what it needs to do. Should it be the focal point, or support furniture and colours that are already there? Pick two or three colours from your rug, cushions or sofa and look for art that picks them up. This narrows the sale quickly and makes the final choice easier.

If you want to test combinations first, build a free mood board and see how several pieces sit together.

Tip 3: Get the Size Right

Size is the most common thing people get wrong. As a rule, choose art that covers roughly two thirds of the width of the furniture below it. Small pieces on a large wall tend to look lost, while one larger piece often looks more intentional than several small ones. Our wall art sizes guide has measurements for common spaces, and our oversized artworks suit large, plain walls.

Before you buy, use our free View in Room tool to preview any piece on your own wall.

Tip 4: Match the Style to the Space

These four looks show how to build a room around the art. Mix and match across them, or use them as a starting point.

The Evening Lounge

Best for living rooms and reading corners. Our textured wall art and hand painted pieces bring a relaxed, tactile feel to a room made for slowing down. Layer in cushions in a matching palette, a rug underfoot and a bean bag lounger in the corner. The lounger is also the $800 tier gift, so this look is a good one to build toward.

The Dining Room

Best for dining rooms, sideboards and open-plan spaces that need a focal point. Hang a still life above a sideboard, choosing deep florals, fruit or a dark painterly background. Our moody collection suits rooms with warm lighting and timber furniture.

The Bedroom Edit

Best for bedrooms and dressing areas. Fashion art and portraits add personality above a bed or dresser. Pair them with layered bedding in complementary tones, and see our bedroom wall art guide for layout ideas.

The Statement Wall

Best for large walls above a sofa, bed or console. One oversized artwork fills the space with a single decision. Our feature wall guide shows how to build the rest of the room around it.

Tip 5: Hang It Well

  • Height: hang the centre of the artwork at around 145cm from the floor.
  • Over furniture: leave 5 to 8cm between the bottom of the frame and the furniture below.
  • Pairs and sets: keep a consistent gap of 5 to 8cm between frames, and choose pieces that share a colour or mood rather than matching exactly.

For step-by-step instructions, see our guides on how to hang wall art and creating a gallery wall.
