Colour Stories

COLOUR STORIES

Did you know that colours have underlying meanings?

Colours in interior design aren’t just there to look good, and often serve a greater purpose to the overall vibe of a room.

But it’s certainly not all that easy trying to choose the right colours to go together.

Even finding the right shades of one particular colour can get tricky – did you know that there are over 250 different shades of blue?

Yeah, and that’s just blue.

Before you start stressing about whether you’re making the right colour choices, we’re here to help.

With our expertise on this year’s trending shades, we want to guide you through the best colour options for your style.

What’s more, most of these colours are timeless, so they’re easy to incorporate with other tones that are sure to trend in the future.

Colours tell a story in your space, which is why it’s so important to understand what you’re choosing and how it fits into your personal style.

With our new Petite Palettes Collection, Boucle Stools, Bookends and Trays taking centre stage as a guide,

you’ll be able to visualise each colour story to help you incorporate it into your own space.

WARM NEUTRALS

If white just doesn’t cut it for you, then reach for some warm neutrals.

These shades range from beige, to orange, to golden – as long as there is a warm undertone,
it’s considered a warm neutral.

Much like other regular neutral tones, warm neutrals pretty much go with everything.

This makes them perfect for minimalists who don’t want too many colours,

but still want that sense of warmth and comfort to come through within their space.

BERRY RED

Berry red is one juicy shade, and it’s also one of the most exciting colours to use in interior design.

There are multiple other shades that follow on from berry red too, making it actually quite versatile.

With warm undertones, you can match it with deep terracotta hues for a real moody, statement look.

Berry red and other deep warm-reddish tones work seamlessly as statement colours.

BLUSH PINK

Despite popular belief, pink doesn’t always have to be associated with overly “girly” or “princess” interiors.

You can use pink shades in a more subtle sense, where they act as an accent that adds to the overall vibe.

Pink is typically used to represent harmony and inner-peace,

so you can include it as pops of colour around your space as reminders to slow down and enjoy the smaller moments.

When it comes to the shade of pink to use, feel free to experiment.

GREEN

Focusing on softer sage green, khaki and olive tones here, this colour story instantly brings a mellow, natural vibe to a space.

These particular tones tend to emulate tropical and environmental vibes, so you can really lean into that when styling your space.

Green is often associated with feelings of growth, renewal and wellbeing,

which makes its massive popularity during and after the pandemic no surprise.

Many people are leaning towards softer, more calming colours to make their surroundings all the more relaxing after such stressful times.

WHITE

Like black, white is the most timeless colour out there. Unlike black, it’s the easiest shade to work into existing interior styles.

This is due to its soft, lightweight tone, which doesn’t overpower any other colours.

White is ideal for entire walls, ceilings and doors, as it opens up the room to create a more spacious feel.

But in terms of décor, you can have a little more fun with it.

Cushions, throws, furniture and smaller homeware pieces are all easily incorporated, bringing a crisp,

fresh feel to your space.

BLUE

The opportunities are endless when it comes to blue in interior design.

Since it’s such a soft, familiar shade, you can create an entire monochromatic look using different hues of blue.

Or, if you’re more into the subtle look, use blue as an accent colour alongside standard neutrals.

which is what makes it so perfect for coastal interiors.

Balance out the look with multiple blue pieces, including an artwork, throw, and furniture piece or two.

If you want to go more understated, choose a mini artwork that won’t overpower the walls.

Blue pairs with:

· Neutrals such as beige, white, and tan

· Gold or silver metal accents

· Luxe textures such as boucle, marble, and velvet

· Organic textures such as rattan and linen

BLACK

You can really never go wrong with this timeless shade.

Whether you’re a passionate “black is a shade, not a colour” type of person, or simply take it for what it is, black will never go out of style.

While black can be considered a neutral, it’s a little tricker to integrate with other colours without the right touch.

Think of black as more of an accent piece, compared to white or beige which are softer tones that can dominate an entire space.

Black takes the moody route with its deep, bold nature that instantly draws the eye across the room.

· Gold or silver metal accents

· Velvet and boucle textures
